Wind Power – Opportunities for Land Owners

If you do not wish to invest in a wind power development but would be open to the possibility of having a wind turbine sited on your land, Wind NI can help. We can provide you with a substantial reduction in your energy bills by leasing out a very small part of your land. Wind NI will fund 100% of the project costs, from feasibility through the planning process and into construction, operation and decommissioning.

The presence of a wind turbine does not render land useless for other activities such as livestock grazing or harvesting silage. The base of every wind turbine is relatively small and for this reason, having a turbine turning on your property can provide an additional income to any practice already taking place.

WHAT WE OFFER

An annual rental payment
Or
A lesser annual rental payment plus free electricity generated from a medium sized wind turbine.

THE OPTIONS

Option A – Rental Payment Only

The landowner will receive a very generous annual payment for the use of their ground.

Option B – Rental Payment plus Free Electricity

The landowner will receive a slightly lesser annual payment for the use of their ground and in addition will receive a large amount of free electricity.

WHAT WE ASK FOR?

The use of a small area of your land to locate the wind turbine in the form of a lease agreement.

THE BENEFITS FOR YOU

• With Rental Only (Option A), you will receive a large annual payment for the use of a small section of your land.
• With Rental and Free Electricity (Option B) where available, in addition to receiving a rental payment, you will also have a substantial reduction in electricity bills.
• Landowners pay on average £30,000 – £40,000 for a wind turbine to provide the electricity that we are offering to you for FREE.
• The turbine will be purchased, installed and serviced by ourselves giving you clean, hassle free electricity generation and peace of mind.
• Energy prices are set to soar. Wind energy will reduce the impact this could have on you and the people of Northern Ireland.
• In the long term, energy prices will fall if we can supply electricity from renewable sources and will remove the dependency we have on other countries for our energy.
• You will be helping reduce dependency on fossil fuels and giving Northern Ireland a more sustainable energy resource for the future.

THE BENEFITS FOR WIND NI

Wind NI, as a new local generator will obtain revenue from current electricity suppliers by selling excess green electricity back to the grid for others to use.

We will also be granted government incentive payments as we will be producing clean, green energy.

POSSIBLE ANNUAL REVENUE

It is impossible to state exactly what the annual revenue could be from a project as it will be very site specific. If we feel a site has potential for development, we will arrange a visit and only after that can we then give an estimate of what the potential annual revenue/electricity savings may be.

Wind NI development sites fall into one of the following categories.

Medium Generation (up to 250kW)

This could provide a landowner with the following income/savings

Option A – Rental Payment Only
The rental payment alone could be between £10,000 and £20,000 per year.
Option B – Rental Payment plus Free Electricity
This combination could provide an annual rental of between £7,500 and £13,500 and in addition free electricity supplied worth up to a maximum of £7,155/year. This gives a total annual combined saving/income potential for the landowner of up to £20,655/year.

Large Generation

On larger sites, where large scale wind development can be accommodated, a landowner can expect an annual rental of from £17,000 and beyond £25,000 per year per turbine installed on their land. Wind NI has several wind farms currently in development but is seeking additional sites.

Joint Generation

Clients can co-invest with Wind NI in a wind power project to receive a larger revenue than just site leasing alone. This option works well with those who intend to or who have already started to develop their own project.
