Grid Connection Feasibility/Application

One of the main obstacles currently with wind energy generation in Northern Ireland is connection to the grid. There are many issues regarding what size of wind turbines can be connected to the grid and the overall capacity of renewable generation the grid can support.

For larger turbines there are many factors in this complicated process, the location and proximity to the nearest by sub station being the most important for determining the rating of the turbines that can be connected and the costs incurred for the connection.

However for the smaller scale turbines grid connection is generally not a major issue.

Wind NI can advise on or facilitate the grid connection process on our client’s behalf, please contact us for more information.
